FAQ’s about The Third Option OC
WHY A THIRD OPTION?
Many of us manage relationships as a series of choices between his desires and her desires, between “peace at any price” and “vicious fights”. Because they tend to move to extremes, these options don’t bring us together.
With The Third Option, you can learn how to break through the clutter of past baggage and misunderstandings and build an effective, loving relationship.
HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR THE CLASS?
No preregistration is required for the ‘In-Person’ class, simply show up to the class (we provide snacks, paper and pens). If you are out of the area and need to attend online on Zoom, you can register online at: ttofullerton.weebly.com.
DO WE BOTH HAVE TO COME?
No. If your spouse is not ready to make a commitment to attending The Third Option, you are welcome to attend alone. By yourself, you can learn more effective ways to handle conflict and communicate with your spouse.
IS THIS COUNSELING?
No. The Third Option is NOT counseling. It is an educational group where we learn and encourage each other along the way. It combines: a support group, sharing couples and workshops about relationship skills.
The Third Option is led by skilled facilitators and by couples who have overcome serious issues in their relationships.
DO I NEED TO ATTEND EVERY SESSION?
No, each session stands alone. If you miss a topic you can catch up later in the next cycle. Many couples find it takes two or even three cycles to build their marriage to the level they seek. Individuals that finish all 14 topics receive a framed Certificate of Completion.
CAN THIS HELP US IF WE’RE SEPARATED?
Yes, without a doubt! But the more serious the problems in your relationship, the harder you will have to work, individually and as a couple to overcome those issues. In the Third Option, you’ll learn how to rebuild trust and what you can do to rekindle the love and commitment that you once shared.
WHAT IF I HAVE A GOOD MARRIAGE/RELATIONSHIP?
The skills taught in The Third Option are helpful for any relationship, and couples attending our program range from those on the brink of divorce to those yearning to make a good marriage even better. Developing the right skills and awareness is the best way to ensure that a good relationship grows even better.
HOW MUCH IS THE THIRD OPTION?
The first two weeks are free; after that, there is a suggested donation of $10 per person, per week. If finances are a problem for you, come anyway – no one is ever turned away due to lack of funds.
